The mind can be our best friend and our worst enemy. It is the origin point not only for all that we think but also all that we feel. Every emotion we have always starts with a thought. As well, the mind is constantly at work. That’s just its natural mode of operation.   For the most part, that’s not a huge problem, but it does become a problem when the mind is upset, worried and obsessing. 

there is a strong connection between the mind and the ego.The ego-mind is responsible, in a large part, for the direction our life takes because our projections on the nature of reality are what create our personal reality.  The mind has great power.  So, by becoming the master of your mind, you can become the master of your reality.  

By witnessing your mind, and keeping score on the type of mental craziness you are taking part in on a daily basis, you can begin to see what needs to shift in order for you to have more peace and balance in your life.

The Power of Dreams Course

Since time immemorial, people have believed dreams to be supernatural gifts from the divine, messages from the spirit world. All religions from both the East and the West have looked to dreams as a source of wisdom and guidance.  The Talmud says, “An uninterpreted dream is like an unopened letter from God.”

On a psychological level, dreams have been thought of as tools for understanding the deep churnings of the psyche, giving us insight to our deeper motivations, fears, joys, and yearnings. On a scientific level, there are some who believe that dreams are merely the random firing of neurons in the brain that cause the bizarre images of our nighttime wanderings. Others believe that dreams are the brain’s way of sorting random bits of information for future use.

There is no easy answer that can explain dreams. I believe that there are many different kinds of dreams serving different functions. Some dreams seem to be a way for the subconscious to process information about life events. Dreams can also be a way for the subconscious to expose the conscious mind to problems it refuses to recognize. After a particularly disturbing dream it is natural for us to ask, “What was that about?” 

Dreams magnify and intensify feelings and experiences so that the conscious mind will pay attention. Reoccurring nightmares are a particularly obvious way in which the subconscious will force the conscious mind to confront internal demons. The subconscious keeps pummeling the conscious mind with the same or similar images and situations until it gets the point, processing and working out the issues being revealed to us. In dreams, it is possible for us to face the dark mirror of our deepest fears and learn to love the parts of ourselves that seem unlovable. 

The dream state is a bridge between the conscious and subconscious minds. Working on dreams helps to build a bridge of communication so a stronger relationship between these two parts of the self may be established.
